Maʻdān is a general term for the Arab population living in the marshy areas of southern Iraq. That is why they are also called ‘Marsh Arabs’. Their textiles, often called "Mesopotamian", consist mainly of embroidery with predominant orange, red and earth colours. Never really intended to be exported, they are very attractive due to their rustic country style.
