This flat-woven piece is locally known as davaghin and is produced by the Avars, a tribe of Kumyk origin. The Kumyk are of Turkic ethnic origin and live in Daghestan. Pieces up to six metres in length, woven on wide looms, are characteristic. This piece is typically decorated with lozenge shaped medallions and woven in red on medium or dark blue fields.
