Bessarabia is located on the borders of Romania and Bulgaria. It was under this name that the region east of Moldova that extends to the Black Sea was designated. This bone of contention between Tsarist Russia and the Ottoman Empire became part of Ukraine. The kilims produced in the area dating from the late 19th century are very elegant and decorative. This very elegant production combines both the characteristics of the Anatolian kilim and the charm of European decorations. The motifs were mainly floral.
