ClassiCon emerged from the traditional Vereinigte Werkstätten in Munich.
The licenses for the designs by famous designers of classic modernism, including Eileen Gray, Eckart Muthesius and Otto Blümel, formed the cornerstone for today’s collection.
All ClassiCon rugs are manufactured in close collaboration with Label STEP in Artisan Villages in the region of Sarlahi, Nepal. Label STEP is a non- profit organization, that guarantees fair working and living conditions for the people in the production areas and allows only environmentally friendly rug manufacturing processes.
Gray Eileen
Surrounded by members of the 'Union des Artistes Modernes' such as Pierre Chareau and René Herbst, her work was noticed by the architects Walter Gropius, Le Corbusier and Mallet-Stevens.
She associates herself with Evelyn Wyld, great artist in weaving art. Together they realize marvelous carpets with designs close to the Stijl or Russian Constructivism Art.
In 1924, encouraged by the architect founder of the magazine 'Architecture Vivante', Jean Badovici, Eileen Gray undertook studies in architecture which resulted in the creation of the house E-1027 at Roquebrune. Her life's work is distinguished by luxurious and meticulously finished objects in rigorously functional style.
