Ysbrant

Ysbrant van Wijngaarden (1937-2021)
Known as ‘Ysbrant’ or ‘Ysbrant.17’
Ysbrant attended the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London in 1955-1956, where he was taught by Patrick Heron and Roger Hilton. He then studied at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp (1957-1958). In 1958, Oskar Kokoschka was his teacher at the Schule des Sehens in Salzburg, and from 1961 to 1963 he was taught by Bruno Saetti at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.
In 1960, Ysbrant was awarded the Camille Huysmans Prize for painting. From 1968 to 2000, Ysbrant lived and worked in Venice.
In the last years of his life, Ysbrant lived in Sicily. He died there in 2021 at the age of 84. (Wikipedia)
