Ives Maes

Ives Maes was born in 1976 in Hasselt, Belgium
He studied sculpture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium, and later completed a post-graduate program at HISK (Higher Institute for Fine Arts) in Antwerp
He is known for his unique approach to photography and installation art. While he is not primarily associated with rug-making, Maes has created artworks that incorporate elements of carpets or rugs in his installations.
His unique collaboration with N. Vrouyr showcases Maes' involvement in the creation of artistic, socially conscious textile works, expanding his repertoire beyond his well-known photographic and installation art.
