Da Silva Bruhns Ivan

The sober and elegant carpets by Ivan Da Silva Bruhns (1881-1980) are among the most sought after from the Art Deco period. With their wide range of geometric or ethnic designs and their natural earth colours, they appealed to the greatest French decorators of the interwar period, such as Ruhlmann and Leleu.
Inspired by the 1922 exhibition in Marseille, he renewed the art of carpet making by being inspired by Oceanic,African and pre-Columbian art, before establishing the Savigny-sur-Orge factory.
