Albert Van huffel (1877-1935) was a Belgian Art Deco architect and designer from a modest background.
He studied at the Ghent Academy of Arts but left in 1901
From 1896 to 1912, he worked in different fields including painter, decorator, furniture maker, and glazier.
The Kunst en Kennis group significantly influenced his work between 1895 and 1904. Van huffel's designs for furniture, carpets, and embroidery reflected the transition from Art Nouveau to functionalism. Through self-study, he became an architect without a formal degree. In 1926, Henry van de Velde invited him to teach applied arts at the La Cambre Institute in Brussels.
