Large carpets are not part of the tradition of Tibetan weavers.
Typically, the smallest formats were meditation rugs or saddle rugs.
The most common sizes were around 80 x 180 cm and were used as wall decorations, floor mats or sleeping mats.
Next came the long, narrow column carpets that were placed around the pillars of temples. They usually depicted a dragon and were designed to create the illusion of a dragon wrapping itself around the column.
